Perfectly Paired With A Puzzle

A beer themed puzzle? Count us in!
Puzzle Club UK has just launched a fresh puzzle featuring 55 of your favourite brews. 1000 pieces of pilsner, lager and ale make up this beer tapestry, and our Saturday lager is the link holding it all together.
We chatted to the founder of Puzzle Club, Simon Avery, about how he started this wholesome initiative and how he goes about creating the perfect puzzles, which are also sustainably made from 100% recycled materials.

1.How did you get into the puzzle making business?
I’ve always liked puzzles, and bought one last year of loads of classic book covers and LOVED it. I wanted to do another like it, but couldn’t find one, so I thought...maybe I should do one…next thing I know I’ve got a load of boxes in the house filled with 75k puzzle pieces.

2.How do you decide what's 'good enough' to become a puzzle?
They’ve gotta be super fun to do, and not too hard, that’s why I’ve gone for the collage style, lots of small images. Easy to do, and super satisfying.

3.It says your puzzles are handmade and are produced from 100% recycled material, can you tell us a bit more about that?
Yeah, I really wanted to be as eco as possible, which means, unlike most puzzles, they are made in the UK, not China, so that saves a load of carbon straight away. And using 100% recycled materials/FSC Paper was kinda a no brainer, all the packaging is plastic free, and I plant a tree for every sale too.

4.What made you want to include AND UNION in your BEER ME! puzzle?
What can I say, I'm a graphic designer and was instantly drawn to your can designs, they rock!

5.You have quite a variety of puzzle themes, from Marvel to fashion to beer, what designs have you got in the pipeline?
I’ve got some killer illustrators lined up for some collabs, which I’m super excited about. I’m also teaming up with Surfers Against Sewage to do a Surfboard one, kinda like the beer cans. Lastly I’ve got one planned with 80s & 90s battered old matchbox cars, given me a great excuse to buy a load off eBay for ‘work’.
